Tasting Notes

88-91
Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Jan 17
(from Sentiers and Feusselottes; picked on September 15): Bright, dark red. Aromas of raspberry, chocolate and licorice are lifted by violet and spices. Suave and very ripe but with a slightly medicinal aspect to its flavors of dark berries, licorice and minerals. Finishes with substantial dusty but essentially smooth tannins. A bit chunky for Chambolle but has plenty of material.

Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
